Sit Down

Last saturday we looked for a couch, white leather it was. No, re probably not going to buy a white couch, not while we have two upgrowing children in our house and two cats.'

I've had for a while this 'crush' on wanting to buy a couch in one specific color that i couldn't find anywhere for a reasonable price. So I already satisfied myself that it would probably going to be a green or red couch.

But now I think I found a reasonable priced couch with, hopefully the right color. Now all we have to do is pay a visit to Sfeermeubelen in Heteren. You do expect more choices in this era of endless possibilities.

Howl with Etsy

Holly from decor8.com always comes with great Etsy shops. I never want to buy any because it is mostly oversea and I'm a bit of coward to pay to bankaccounts that are not based in the Netherlands. But now I took a look to find some art which features wolfs. I might buy some postcard to frame them. I have no artwork what so ever in my home, only photographs from ourselves (though they're taken by photographers whom work I do find inspiring). Remember I'll only feature the wolf prints but the artist have usual more prints in their shops.

I'll start with Sweetheart Sinner Creations who has an amazing print on a bussinesscard holder.

Heartworks by Lori has this cute necklesspendant. The painting is made by her brother Brad Weinman.

I really adore this print from Vintagehaberdashery, I think its really amazing.

Starrydance has some really cute things in her shop. I fell for this one ofcourse.

Artandghost has prints that are dreamy and beautiful.

Wool & Water has mobiles! I think its totally adorable and original. It brings me back to my childhood memories. Isn't this one beautiful?

Last one is Hideandseek where I found this print called: My, what big heart you have... Only for this title I want to have it, isn't this girl cute?

I'm not sure if I can hold myself any longer and don't buy one or two or maybe more things from this little round up i made. I really love al this prints and thingy's! I love wolves but normally hate how they're usual displayed in artwork. Its almost always in some kind of totem spirit atmosphere or with native Americans and all that sort of things. But these are totally different and completly my style. I will keep you noticed.

Light Up

I was looking for a nice pendant for the dining table. It had to be white, affordable and something unique. Unique not meaning that it should be something that nobody has but at least something you wouldn't expect in millions of other households. So no typical chandelier for instance.

This lamp for Ikea would fit my list of priorities, only my partner thinks its awfull.

I adore the Paper Chandelier from Moooi. But it is too expensive.

I love this idea from vtwonen.nl 'binnenkijker.' You could cut down the price by buying some from Ikea or other cheap(er) shops and get for instance one out of the ordinary shop. But, again my partner, hates to put more holes in the seiling. So one more thing on the list of: white, affordable and a little bit unusual. It had to be one single light.

I found something else. And I hope it looks nice.

Pillow Mix

Our couch is black, a not very stimulating color i can tell you. To add some color I have pink/fuchsia looking pillows. They weren't expensive but make a big difference in our home since then. Following picture I first saw in a Dutch magazine and I felt in love with the pillows! They are from Taj Wood & Scherer. A wonderful German company that make great decorating stuff for your home.

http://www.purepublic.dk/

Unfortanetly they don't make these pillows anymore, at least i still haven't found them since then. So looking for alternatives I came back home with my pink-fuchsia pillows with a big flower motiv on them. And I also got a pillow from Ikea which is recently out of stock there too. Now I was looking for some more pillows at the Ikea website and found these five, putting them together, very nice!

Plastic Chair

For quite a while we were in search for the perfect dining chair. My boyfriend especially wanted that the chair was good for a long sit. So we all could sit with our friends in our new kitchen slash dinner area for as long as we want. We now have four lime green chairs of fake leather. As you can imagine it does sit nice but the look of it doesn't fit with our new kitchen.

My first thought went to the butterfly chairs from Arne Jacobsen. I think its a great timeless design and love the plywood. But timeless ass it is I was afraid that not many people would see what kind of design piece it is. Although a lot of people would never find the differences between Ikea and modern design furnitue I would wanted something more outstanding than this.

Than my heart felt for the DSR dining chair, designed by the famous Charles and Ray Eames couple. My boyfriend wasn't all enthustiatic as accepted and found the eiffel tower legs horrible and even more he was afraid that the chair didn't sit ever so nicely as our 'old' chairs. To convince him and search out other options that would compete a little with the Butterfly and DSR chairs we went to the Ikea (must convince it is our all time favorite store to first check out before we buy any new furniture). Not surprisingly we went for the Gilbert and Jakob chairs.

Yesterday we went to Amsterdam with our two children and went into some shops before we sat down in the Bijenkorf. A big, little bit expensive, luxury shopping mall in Amsterdam. We went to the top floor to the restaurant and as we were drinking our beverages I couldn't help myself to laugh and commend my boyfriend to try out the DSR Eames chairs! Yes, they just were standing their inviting us to test them out with a small dinner.

There was a good thing and a bad thing about the DSR chairs standing in the most famous shopping mall of the Netherlands. Now we could off course test them out and they were sitting perfect for us, even my boyfriend had to agree. But now the Bijenkorf also are selling them and I'm afraid half the Netherlands will buy them now, while I wanted them first! Yes, I know I'm not fair and I didn't expect to buy something exclusive with this choice but at least a little more exclusive than this would be nice...

But there is no turning back for me. I fell in love with the DSR and my boyfriend agreed that sitting in it was good, I now just can't wait to have them!

World Tour Part 1

Via Style-files.com I got the link from the Shootfactory.co.uk. This hous above is located in Mallorca, Spain. I love the white look. But I think I'll never accomplish to get my house look like that.

This from a house located in London. Again a lot of white I notice but I love the bright colors added here. Especially the bathroom with the big painting of the woman and the Chinese blue cabinet is brilliant. Get my on an idea to print a nice photograph on special canvas for outdoor use and hang it in the bathroom. That would look lovely!

XandL

Xander Vervoort and Leon van Boxtel are the interior designers behind Xandl. They are based in Amsterdam. Some of the interior pictures you see here are from 1999. It still looks so modern. I know 1999 only is nine years back but if I watch some magazines from that time I do get the feeling its a little bit outdated. Here you can see some interiors just have the perfect base for twenty or more years. I like the kitchen with the white range hood.

Look at the three different pendants used above the dining table. And again the white range hood in the kitchen. The image below shows a light, grey toned, livingroom.

Retro Tableware

I love this retro looking tableware from Portmeirion. I'm still in search for the perfect looking tableware, although I think I'm already determined to buy the Rice Italian tableware, I did thought this was a good alternative. Only my bf thinks its hideous since he dislikes all retro and retro-look furniture and stuff.

Sophie Conran

Sophie Conran is a multi talented woman, running her own business making handmade product for Harrods and other shops. She also published two cooking books. I love cooking and after seeing her beautiful home I'm curious how are recipies are.
I think her kitchen is a very inspiring workplace with the pink walls and AGA cooker. Take a closer look at her chairs around the dining table and the vivid colors in her home. Her bedroom is just as it should be, calm and serene.

Spring Decorating

I came across this Danish designer Susanne Schjerning. She has great artwork for pillows and tablecloths. Her site is in Danish but the pictures speak for themselves. Susanne Schjerning website, and here you can buy her tablecloths: Rikki Tikki Shop.

Inspired by Rituals Hammam

I got the Rituals Hammam gift set. Not only do I love the package for the wellnes but I also love the design of it. If it was only up to me my room might look like this.

Slinger

Of beter.
